Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is CBT?
Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based treatment that has been around for decades. During that time, it has evolved with various protocols and approaches. Think of CBT is like a “big umbrella” under which there are many different approaches.
  • How do I get started?
Treatment at the CBT Center of Central NJ generally begins with a free phone consultation with our Founder/Director, Dr. Michelle Drapkin. Reach out via email (michelle@CBTCenterofCentralNJ.com) or phone/text 732.455.9662.
  • Who/what do you treat?
Broadly, we are behavior scientists who work with you on whatever behaviors you might need to change (spoiler alert - “thinking” is a behavior, too!) to live the life you value. Often, stress, anxiety, substance use, and depression are a symptom of us living a life out of line of our values. We are trained in various CBT protocols to help identify the behaviors that are getting in the way.
